TRAINING

SCHOOL LONDON

Massive thanks for a challenging but great, if freezing day out on Monday. You're great guys and the best of teachers because you made it fun and interesting all at the same time. Going to Barnet to choose a 125 tomorrow, then practise practise practise: and Terry, I'll try not to go too fast too soon. Will be in touch re: the Test. All the best and be safe

Hi. I wanted to leave some feedback having just passed my test for a full bike license. I did this via your super six package and have to say what a thoroughly excelllent package it is! Clearly though a critical success factor is the quality of supervision and instruction and I found this to be the just fantastic, and consistent across all the instructors with whom I had contact: Mark for my CBT, Terry and Dave W for days 1 and 2 of the 5D, Ray for day 3 (125-500 convwersion)and Terry again for day 4 and test day. I learned heaps and importantly in a safe and really professionally delivered way. I will not hesitate to recommend Metropolis Training to anyone!
Thanks to you all,

Nick

What do you want to ride?

Your age and the type of bike you take your practical test determine what you can ride.

TEST on 125cc Automatic:
You can ride any automatic up to 33bhp only (most 250cc scooters) for the first two years. Then any size automatic after that. You will not be allowed to ride any manual bike, except a 125cc with L-plates.

TEST on 125cc Manual:
You can ride any bike that makes no more than 33bhp for two years, then you can ride anything. Most bikes can be restricted to 33bhp then derestricted later.

TEST on 500cc(47bhp) bike:
You can ride anything you like, no waiting, no restrictions!

What kind of licence do you have?

Full car licence issued before Feb 1, 2001
You have full 49cc moped and provisional motorcycle entitlement. You don’t need to take a CBT course to ride a 49cc moped. You can carry a passenger and don’t need L-plates. Take a CBT course and you can ride anything up to 125cc with L-plates

Full car licence issued after Feb 1, 2001
You must take a CBT before riding anything on the road. Once completed you can ride 49cc mopeds indefinitely and a 125cc for the next two years. You must display L-plates.

Provisional licence
You must compete CBT before riding a moped or motorcycle.

Compulsory Basic Training (CBT)

This Government-devised one-day course will teach you the basics of riding. It is compulsory for some riders and a great idea for anyone who is new to biking. It can be completed on a moped or motorcycle, both of which we can supply, along with the appropriate riding kit. You will be taught five key elements, some theory but mainly practical. At first you’re trained in a controlled environment and then on the road. There’s no pass or fail, but we recommend you take our RoadRider course next.

Times: 8.30am to approx 4pm.

Hi everyone,
Just a quick message to say thank you to everyone at Metropolis for helping me pass my CBT. A big thanks to Paul and Terry for giving me the confidence to ride. I didn't think I had it in me! Take care and I will see you in about a year for the full test.

I just wanted to say that Andy Roberts was a superb instructor over the last three days. He made it a fun experience, and ensured I knew exactly what to expect for the Motorcycle Practical Driving Test.... which I passed! Many thanks
